Hill Air Force Base Air Show

Saturday was quite an interesting one for me. To start it all off I got to have a sleepover which has been rare since starting the CNA program. I went to the air show at Hill Air Force Base with 2 of my friends! It was great! They go every year and this was my first. I totally recommend anyone going to it! They have small planes you can sit in, and HUGE, MASSIVE air planes that carry cargo like TANKS or OTHER AIR PLANES inside of it!!! You can walk inside of these, sit in the cock pit, sit in soldier's seats, walk in a helicopter, the whole deal. They have food, and even had a bunch of stands set up giving you a bunch of information on the air planes them selfs, plus all the air force personnel was there at the stands putting helmets on your heads, giving you free plastic models, dog tags etc. I haven't even gotten to the main event yet! You sit and watch them give an air show flying the coolest of the cool planes in all sort of awesome ways. As amazing as this all was, there was a SLIGHT setback. Besides being BANNED from flirting with attractive armed forces, there was RAIN. And rain, and RAIN!!!!! When the clouds got back, they postponed the show and then it REALLY got bad. I don't remember very many times that It has rained so much before! The whole ground was covered in 1/2 inch of water! We were the lucky ones because we brought a HUGE sports umbrella which kept us dry for quite a while. It did not look like it was ever going to let up so after an hour or so we packed up and made a run for it. A mile run for it that is. I was under the umbrella so not a drop of rain touched me. Although, I had the blanket which was equivalent to a SPONGE!! We were sopping wet by the time we got to the car! Despite the moisture, it really was a great experience. Besides, I was told that because of the rain, they hadn't even brought out the actual show, all that I saw was the before entertainment! They plan this months in advance and it comes every 2 years I think, so if you ever have the opportunity, I highly recommend going!
warnings if you ever do plan to go:
1. it is very busy, get there early to get a good seat(if your kids get lost, they have a lost parent area where all kids are sent to play games with air force people, and they always announce when a child has been found)
2. bring camping chairs(and umbrellas if chance of rain)
3. bring sunglasses because you are always looking up
4. bring sunscreen
walking INTO the plane itself!!
